Last year Showie developed laminitis, and was forced to have tendon surgery as part of her treatment. Although the laminitis is now in remission, the surgery left her with scar tissue that attached itself to both neighboring tendons, causing a contraction in her foot that has rendered her lame (notice her tilted front left foot in below photo). She walks with a very pronounced limp and is in quite of bit of discomfort. She needs a minor surgery to release those tendons so that she can regain the full functionality of her leg and live a pain-free life.
We are asking horse lovers to sponsor Showie's $5,500 surgery through donations. She is truly one-of-a-kind - sweet, brave, gentle and patient with all those who are lucky enough to work with her. She's only 15 years old and - with your help - will have many, many wonderful years ahead of her.
